Well Hello, Darlings! We are The Godmother's Needle! 

Our mission is to spread the love of sewing! 

We want to create a safe and friendly space to come together and have fun making some cool and unique items to wear and share. 

There’s  nothing more  rewarding than being able to make a little something using the fabric you love and tailoring it seamlessly to your measurements and personal style. Whether it’s  a garment for your wardrobe, a decorative piece for your home or a little something for someone else to treasure, The Godmother’s Needle will equip you with the requisite skills to confidently get sewing! 

Sewing is not difficult or scary. It just takes a touch of patience to learn the basics, but once you have these skills, you will have them forever!  Each of our classes aim to extend your sewing knowledge more and more. Ever wondered how to make adjustments on your ready-to-wear garments? Needed to alter a hem?  How about sewing on that missing button? These mending and alteration skills are only the beginning of skills you’ll be learning in our Novice Needleworker Course, and executing in our easy-peasy project modules! 

So, come along to grow your sewing toolkit alongside our supportive little sewing community.  

We’ll  create a little Godmother magic stitch by stitch, with a cuppa and a chat and a sweet treat along the way! 

You could say that sewing is in our blood. We come from a generation of crafty gals and guys - from seamstresses to shoe cobblers and designers.  We have been surrounded by the hum of machines and snipping of scissors busily making and mending for clients and family for decades. 

Sofi - The God Mother 

Sofi’s mum was a professional seamstress who ran a sewing business from home following many years in the rag trade! She taught her lots of crafty skills, from crochet to embroidery and of course, sewing. However, Sofi’s true passion for sewing evolved through her love of vintage fashion and glamour! It all started with her 1960s Ford Falcon and wanting to wear something to go with it (of course !). Over the years, Sofi’s sewing practice has evolved into a repertoire of advanced skills, garment-making for herself and others!

Tash - The God Daughter 

Tasha is a qualified and talented young local Melbourne fashion designer, and the Founder of the Australian Intimates Label, T.Kro Intimates (Tasha Kroussov Intimates), since 2020. She has formally trained at RMIT University, holding a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design and Technology, but has pretty much been sewing and crafting since the day she was born! 

Her baba and mum are also excellent sewers,  and inspired young Tasha, who was given her first sewing machine when she was six years old! 

Baba Fay, also owned and operated her own small business, sewing undergarments and pajamas, which really encouraged Tasha to start her intimates business, and follow in her grandma’s footsteps! Tasha’s love of sewing has led her to teach family and friends how to make their very own pieces. Tasha has also designed and created garments for customers, including gowns, custom lingerie and formal wear for those special occasions!
